REBEL WISDOM IS DEAD. Which parts of it should be reincarnated?
When Rebel Wisdom closed its doors (see final video event
here) in November of 2022, it left behind a legacy of smart heterodox attempts to bridge between leading-edge transformational thought & mainstream audiences. But that's not all. It also spent years developing a quarter million subscribers and participants who are now homeless.
Or are they?
While the goal of
Perspectiva is not necessarily to maximize viewership and profits, it does feel a conscious responsibility to safeguard particular "community assets." According to Jonathan Rowson, Perspectiva's duty here is to
help give voice to an incipient movement that lacks adequate means of amplification.
As Rebel Wisdom co-founders David & Ali go their separate ways, we find ourselves in a different cultural moment than the one that called forth the original RW project. We may not need to spend as much time exploring the provocations of Jordan Peterson or the vagaries of vaccination, but there is still a large network of engaged people who were drawn to this particular interface between new thought and mainstream culture.
They obviously won't all be interested in moving ahead with Perspectiva and the opportunities it plans to afford to David Fuller to develop new projects. However many of them will.
Mergers, acquisitions & adoptions have a rocky history. Hit or miss. It's a gamble. However, the position at Perspectiva is that would be
more irresponsible NOT to make some effort to retain and support the Rebel Wisdom community, its key players and the possibilities it affords for future creative expression in our overlapping Emerge communities.
The creative challenge now will be to come up with the points of emphasis that simultaneously maintain connection with the ethos of Rebel Wisdom and the creative ferment of the Emerge field. A balance of old and new will be needed in upcoming projects.
And who knows -- maybe this is where YOU come in?
