THE INTEGRAL CONFERENCE OF NORTH AMERICA (ICON) is coming up in May 2026.  It is the American cousin of the Integral European Conference (IEC).  They had one in 2024 with a pretty good vibe. 

That was the largest gathering of developmental meta-folks in North America in many years, but it felt international.  It wasn't too conference-y.  Good people. Energy.  Friendships.  Projects.  It didn't get too hung up on insular terminology.  Forward-looking.  So this event hopes to keep up that good momentum.   

ICON 2026 is May 28-31 in Denver, Colorado.  It will have a special emphasis on Intersubjectivity, Psychedelics & AI.  It might also be livelier, more inclusive, and edgier. 

They're calling it:

Closer to Coherence:
Integral’s Role in Building a Post-Tragic Future.

They're also calling it: a living laboratory of CoEmergence where participants are invited to actively shape the future. 

A lot of fancy branding words.  What does “coherence" even mean?  Does a “post-tragic future" bypass tragedy or deeply incorporate it as part of the world we live in?  Where is that word being sourced?  Whose ideas are being appropriated or appropriately evolved?  And  “CoEmergence" ???

All good questions.  But do not get too hung up on the wording.  There are reasons to think this is going to be a lot richer, more interesting, more musical, more diverse, and more pertinent than any idea of an “integral conference" you might be holding in your head.

Here's what it could be:

Beyond dogma.  Beyond jargon.  Beyond individual practice.  Creating the scene that creates the future.

In a world characterized by objective and subjective fragmentation, how do we cultivate, mobilize, and amplify intersubjective coherence?  A coherence that serves our nervous systems, our lives, our existing communities and emerging networks, and our deeply unsettled and rapidly shifting world. 

Can we do that?  Can we even cultivate functional alliances across the different tribes and projects within the overlapping developmental, transformational, and regenerative meta-networks? 

It won't be easy.  But it is worth doing.
